While investigating the death of Zhodavian, the Rogues under Captain Orkin’s command received a message from a Professor Ujinka of the University of Regina. The call was on Zhodavian’s otherwise blanked comm-unit. A small group of Rogues under Commander Richardi’s direction went to meet with the professor. They spoke with her about the plan she and Zhodavian had been working on to detect the location of hidden Ancients sites. She believed he had a site he wanted to start with. Her assistant, working at the dig on Beck’s World, was the real expert on the technology of the project, she said.
While they were discussing, however, the Professor was assassinated by a volley of precise gauss fire from outside her sitting room window. Lamda Tree lept out of the broken window and flew (using the battledress he was allowed as a bodyguard toVud) toward the assailants, eviscerating one of the two with an anti-armor gun. The other assassin, named Mort, immediately submitted in terror and asked to join up.
Mort, Lambda, and Commander Richardi then went to the TAS lodge where Zhodavian had been killed… leaving Zhodavian’s body lying in Professor Ujinka’s house, next to her own.
They were having a drink in the lounge when alarms all over (and above) Regina started going off… something was coming out of jump in orbit! Richardi and crew realized instantly that something seriously amiss was up and headed for Ujinka’s Estate in their grav car as fast as possible.
Meanwhile, Captain Orkin and Vud were pursuing, and eventually capturing the pair of Imperial Scout Service agents who were trailing Richardi’s party. They learned that a Scout Service Captain named Gan Holces had a 30,000 ton cruiser in orbit and was having them trailed to investigate a major, large-scale conspiracy. They were on their way to the Scout Cruiser to talk with Captain Holces when an immense vessel came, impossibly, out of jump in the planet’s orbital space. Before they knew what was happening, people started shouting about firing solutions and screens… then the cruiser that looked like a wall in front of them as they approached, started to break apart and explode. As they sped away back to the Q-Yacht to escape the suddenly exploding warship, an even larger 200,000 ton Kokirrak dreadnaught, an imperial capital battleship, likewise began to explode and break apart .
As Richardi and crew sped to the late-professor’s estate, they saw it ripped out of the ground in front of them by some sort of super-high-tech tractor beam from the strange, massive vessel. Captain Orkin ordered them to retrieve Zhodavian’s body and return to the fleet ASAP. Instead, they chose to stay with the house as it rose into orbit and into a waiting bay in the mystery ship. Vud teleported into the house, grabbed the body and tried to teleport back… but Lambda, using his anti-psi armor, tried to block Vud’s teleportation. He succeded for a moment, but Vud used the stored energy in the rings he got from the Sisters to boost his powers and take Zhodavian’s body back to the fleet. When the doors of the bay on the strange ship closed behind the ascending estate, Orkin, Vud, and the rest lost all contact with Richardi and those with him.
Shortly after, a mystserious droyne teleported onto the bridge of Orkin’s ship, stating simply and all buisiness-like that “Seven wants the body.” Captain Orkin chose to hand over Zhodavian’s body rather than resisting something that could take out an imperial dreadnought. Once the droyne had teleported back aboard the mystery capital-ship, it entered jump-space, against all known laws of physics, from orbit around Regina; taking Commander Sir Richardi Holland, Crewman Lambda Tree, the assassin Mort, and their grav-car driver with it.
Captain Sir Orkin took advantage of the confusion in the system to scavenge a hold full of imperial parts (mostly weapons systems) from the debris of the fiasco, then headed out to the 100-diameter jump-limit of Assiniboia, the gas-giant Regina orbits, and jumped for the Alell system.
